Flectory participated as a sponsor of the 'HL FMA (Future Mobility Award) 2026 Autonomous Driving Competition', held from September 19 to 20 at the Yongin Driver's License Examination Center, providing Private 5G (Local 5G) infrastructure and on-site technical support.
The competition was hosted by HL Mando, HL Klemove and the Korea Road Traffic Authority, and organized by the SW-Oriented University Program of Halla University. A total of 198 university students from across Korea, forming 40 teams, competed with the autonomous driving technologies they developed.
Private 5G Communication Infrastructure for Autonomous Vehicle Operation
For this competition, Flectory deployed the Private 5G network required for the participants to operate their autonomous vehicles, and carried out on-site technical support throughout the event.
In particular, Flectory provided a communication environment that allowed sensor data such as LiDAR readings, along with the camera video data needed for image recognition, to be transmitted over the Private 5G network.
Based on the ultra-high-speed, low-latency communication of Private 5G, this supported smooth autonomous vehicle operation for the participating teams and contributed to the stable running of the competition.
A Practical Autonomous Driving Technology Contest
The teams operated 1/5-scale autonomous vehicles on a course designed according to actual driver's license test regulations, competing on the performance of the autonomous driving technology each team developed.
Beyond lane and traffic signal recognition, the vehicles carried out a range of driving missions that reflect real road environments, including detecting and stopping for child mannequins appearing without warning, and changing lanes at accident and construction zones.
High Participant Satisfaction and Expanded Adoption in 2027
The students who used Private 5G during the competition expressed a high level of satisfaction with the network environment, and Halla University, which organized the event, also showed strong interest in using Private 5G.
Based on this positive feedback, the scope of Private 5G adoption will be fully expanded from the 2027 competition onward.
Flectory will continue to support technological progress in future mobility fields such as autonomous driving and robotics with its own Private 5G technology and deployment capabilities, and will expand its application across a wide range of industries.
